The MME supports the implementation of the strategy and strengthen disease control by: applying effective strategies and policies, including those related to drug resistance; increasing the involvement of communities, health-care providers, nongovernmental organizations and corporate partners, through increased country support and strong partnerships; and to strengthen surveillance, monitoring and evaluation. The data collection, analyse, and interpretation of surveillance data is one of the core activities expected in the MME team.
Planned timelines (subject to confirmation)
- Start date: 20/08/2018
- End date: 19/02/2019
A Data analyst will work as a member of the Mekong Malaria Elimination (MME) team. Under supervision of Coordinator, MME and the day to day guidance from the data manager, MME to carry the following tasks:
- Output 1: Facilitate data analysis and interpretation
- Deliverable 1.1: Do data analysis and update on presentations, bulletins, newsletters, monthly epidemiology including data on GIS maps.
- Deliverable 1.2: Update existing GMS country dashboards on regional data sharing platform (RDSP), DHIS2.
- Output 2: Perform any other tasks assigned by MME coordinator/MME data manager
- Deliverable 2.1: Generate reports with required data for presentation/meeting
- Qualifications required:
- Bachelor degree or above in statistics/mathematic/information technology or related field.
- Experience required:
- Three years experiences as a data analyst preferably in a relevant field.
- Extensive experience with data collection, analyse, use, and interpretation including surveillance software.
- Experience in data analysis and visualization.
- Experience in Ministry of Health, WHO or other UN Organizations is a plus.
- Skills / Technical skills and knowledge:
- Ability to identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets is require
- Knowledge of DHIS2, Microsoft Access, advance Excel is preferable
- Knowledge of and experience with reporting packages, databases (SQL etc), programming (Javascript, c#) is a plus
- Language requirements:
- Good knowledge of English is essential (Read-Write-Speak).
Place of assignment
A Data analyst will be based in WHO Cambodia.
Medical clearance
The selected SSA will be expected to provide a medical certificate of fitness for work.
Travel
The selected SSA may require travel to Cambodia and other GMS countries as requested by the Coordinator MME.
